  • I was born and raised on the island of Guam

  • My husband and I have 3 children and my 3rd child is 18 years younger than my middle child.

  • I have lived in many states after leaving Guam at age 18. I lived in Colorado, Tennessee, Wisconsin, New Mexico, and now Georgia.

I believe that all children deserve to be part of a learning environment where they feel comfortable and welcome and where they are academically challenged, encouraged to have fun, engaged in the material, and holistically nurtured.

  • I was in a body cast for hip dysplasia when I was a baby; then I went on to play softball as a catcher.

  • I swam in a bioluminescent bay at night in Jamaica, which was one of the coolest experiences I’ve ever had!

  • I taught in DeKalb County for ten years, teaching kindergarten, third, fourth, and special education.

I believe learning through play, art, and nature is very important for young minds. Helping students foster critical thinking and problem-solving skills through those modes will carry them far in school and in life!

  • I grew up in Venezuela and emigrated to The United States in 2015 when I was 20 years old.  

  • My first language is Spanish. I studied English in school but my true education in language was gained watching the American television show “Friends.”

  • When I was 17, during a hiking trip to Colombia, I took a mud bath inside the volcano, El Totumo.

Learning can be fun! I want students to feel like school, and our classroom in particular, is a home away from home, where they feel safe, seen, heard and loved. I aim to achieve this by fostering a warm and welcoming environment, where our children have the freedom to learn through play.

I try my best to give the same acceptance and loving environment to the children that my little girl got when we moved here from another continent. Every child is unique. Music, dancing and singing are the best ways to connect with each other, and through playing children can also learn, become more open and develop new skills.

I believe that the most important thing that children remember from school, is that they are loved, that they are special, and to always be kind. I love teaching these things through music, and one of my favorite things to do is expose the children to all different kinds of instruments, including vocals!
